As goes the minister, so goes the minion

Alleged Name dropping by Ramesh Abhishek that he has access in high places, is a despicable trait and should be nipped in the bud

Yatha Mantri, Tatha Tantri (यथा मंत्री तथा तंत्री)

The “special” relationship that retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Ramesh Abhishek (RA) enjoys with PC is well documented. He seems to be taking a leaf out of his boss’s notebook. This PC minion, while being the Chairman of Forward Markets Commission (FMC) is alleged to have also indulged in various commodities such as LC Ferro Manganese, Ferro Chrome, Ferro Moly, Ferro Vanadium, Ferro Titanium, MC Ferro Manganese & other LC Ferro Alloys items through his brother Vijoy Shankar Agarwal’s company “Jagdamba Iron Steel (P) Ltd” situated at Rairangpur, Orissa – 757043[2]. He also has a warehouse for the storage of commodities. For this and various other allegations of corruption, this bent babu is under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and by the Lokpal.

RA tries to do a Chidambaram!

He is currently retired from the service, having not gotten any sinecure appointments and is allegedly busy now trying to fix deals, quoting his proximity to the current Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba.

The following claims were allegedly made by RA through the grapevine:

  • He has started his shop for postings, transfers, etc.
  • He is so close to Gauba that even after retirement he is still staying at Moti Baug. That this arrangement was done by Gauba.
  • His legal expenses are also taken care of by SEBI thanks to Gauba

All in an effort to portray that he is very close to Gauba and can get any work done. It is unclear if Gauba is aware of this or not; either way, this must be nipped in the bud.

Doing what PC tried in 2018?

The date was Jul 12, 2018. The event was the Ramnath Goenka Lecture series. The place was New Delhi. The keynote speaker was Ranjan Gogoi, the next Chief Justice of India. The ex-Finance Minister, P Chidambaram (PC) had yet to smell the scents of Tihar jail. The hustler was being probed in around 10 cases by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and other agencies, and literally became an embarrassment to the Supreme Court and High Court Judges when he kept hopping seats, sitting with various judges of the Supreme Court[1].

First, he sat by the side of Justice Ranjan Gogoi and when Gogoi went on the stage, he switched places so he could be by the side of another judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Chandrachud.

Second, he was on bail and his frivolous petition claiming the right to life and decency alleging witch-hunt by CBI and ED was pending before the Chief Justice Dipak Misra’s Bench, where Justice Chandrachud is often a member. The Bench also handled Karti’s several petitions to go abroad and cancellation of CBI’s Look Out Notice in Airports in connection with the INX Media bribe case.

Third, he was seen hobnobbing with several other judges of the Supreme Court and Delhi High Court. The inappropriateness apart, it is a mystery as to how the organizers were allowing him to hop chairs. This goes back to the question of whether PC has a stake in Indian Express via a benami, who shall go unnamed but someone familiar. This benami also runs a news website that is frequently alleged of making (up) news. But all this, you already know. Water under the bridge. And all the photo ops could not prevent PC from smelling the winds that wafted through the cells of Tihar jail for 106 days.

  1. While I agree with you on PC, neither Ambani or Adani smell like a rose. In fact they stink to high heavens.
You have no credibility in my opinion until you investigate and publish articles about them.

  2. This column has no meaning until and unless PC is proved guilty and appropriately punished. We are yet to see a corrupt Neta being convicted and appropriately punished. The justice being delayed until the time the Govt.change. when the right party comes back to power all allegations and charges will be squashed saying there was no substance in the allegations and they were nothing but political vendetta.
Long live Indian Democracy and its judiciary.
