900 million Hindus should feel empowered enough to build the Ayodhya Ram Mandir
Ayodhya Ram Mandir, at the birthplace of Shri Ram, still seems a dream. Ayodhya Ram Mandir has been a very long dream and somehow is just not converting to reality. Shri Ram has been homeless in Ayodhya for so long, he must himself be weary of the waiting. Shri Ram taught us about obedience and duty (Maryada and Tyag). He showed us his love for his brothers, respect for his father’s word, respect for his mother and stepmother. He demonstrated his love for his wife and care for his subjects. He used his kshatriya skills to destroy adharm and got rid people from the asuras. He was able to engage Nal and Neel to build the Ram Setu hundreds of miles away from Rameshwaram to Sri Lanka. The Setu is a legacy that is present and visible even today, after thousands of years.
So why is there still no Ayodhya Ram Mandir to commemorate Shri Ram? 1947 came and went, and its now May 2018.
I have heard हमें निज धर्म पर चलना सिखाती है रामायण। It does make one wonder why there has been a significant shortfall, and why the lessons of dharma are so difficult to learn and pass. Valmikiji and Tulsidaasji have tried their very best to convey the message about dharma in the Ramayan. It’s not that Hindus are not dharmic. Most Hindus are quite dharmic on regular basis.
Its uplifting to sing praises of Shri Ram repeatedly, and then somehow feel disempowered not to be able to build the Ayodhya Ram Mandir.
It is possible that 900 million Hindus do not seem to care very much whether there is an Ayodhya Ram Mandir. Perhaps there is a deficiency of Aastha, or there is a perception that there are enough Mandirs. Some ask what would be having the Ayodhya Ram Mandir achieve?
The callousness of the modern is kumati beyond measure, forcing the disempowerment of 900 million Hindus
Build a Hospital or a School, they say. One could argue perhaps there are also enough Hospitals and Schools in the country, or there would be if the population did not keep increasing at an alarming rate. The Hindus could probably find 108 excuses for the absence of Ayodhya Ram Mandir. The non-Hindus could find more than 108 reasons why there should be no Ayodhya Ram Mandir. Surely 900 million Hindus should feel empowered enough to build the Ayodhya Ram Mandir after 1947.
It is as if there are now 900 million equivalents of his mother Kaiykeyi. She sent him away for a mere 14 years. The Hindus have kept Shri Ram homeless in Ayodhya for so much longer. Perhaps it’s not the fault of the Hindus and the real culprit is that Court that is called Supreme. The Supreme Court cannot be Supreme but seems like a modern-day collection of several Kumati. Kumati was one unwise troublemaker of a woman, who created so much misery for the Rahu Vansh. However with hindsight, one has to give her credit, that she advised Shri Ram to be sent away for 14 years. There was an endpoint to the suffering for Shri Ram and the Raghu Vansh.
I pray I am not thinking these thoughts again in 2019 and beyond.
I pray that I will see the Ayodhya Ram Mandir built in my lifetime, and be able to do darshan there.

- Ayodhya Ram Mandir is still a dream in May 2018 - May 23, 2018
It will be Ram Nauvmi soon and it will be celebrated magnificantly in Ayodhya in 2024, more so than the inauguration of the Ram Mandir was on 22 January 2024.
I have come back to this article I wrote in 2018.
I feel blessed to be living in this era and I have been able to go to the Ram Mandir inAyodhya to do darshan. It feels like a wish, and a prayer has come true. A long held dream has become reality.
The electorate is very transactional in nature. Khairana by poll loss is an indicator. Real issues have to be addressed. Ram mandir can wait.
This article is an eye opener.

There is not a single comment here on this desire of the author. That alone shows the Hindu drive to such an event. Hindus come in name, some in worship and many in inheritance. Among these, those in name are simply secular driven and definitely Anti-Hindu in style and fashion, barking at the Hindus at the slightest provocation like the Lutyen type. Then there is those who are Hindus only because they are born to a Hindu family with little knowledge of Hinduism and no interest in it. Those Hindus who worship and follow Hindu culture even as they are a sizeable number are subdued and docile, like being in a state of Martin Seligman’s Learned Helplessness. Seligman described the condition of learned helplessness, or not trying to get out of a negative situation because the past has taught you that you are helpless. Research has shown that the way people view the negative events that happen to them can have an impact on whether they feel helpless or not. How could this condition of Learned Helplessness ever arise among Hindus? One has to go back in history where for 1000 years, when the Hindus had been victims of subjugation, violence and plundering, in the worst genocide mankind has ever known during the Muslim invasion and then subsequently by the British rule and recently by 60 years of Congress/Italian rule. So it would take a miracle for Hindus to react in unison to the building of a Ram Temple unless they feel that they indeed have a strong and secure leadership for them to take this matter seriously. Reconditioning a genetic defect would require a transformation within and safety and security is needed to incubate this transformation. Can it happen under Modi’s term? Only time can tell.
Visuji All you have written is correct. The article on MSI elsewhere here gives some insight into the reasons for the nonrealisation of the dream of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. It is my belief that in many ways Independence was not actually achieved in 1947, and things got worse subsequently , especially post 1990s. The apeing of many things continues unabated. Whole structures in government , Law and elsewhere have remained largely unchanged post 1947. Its as if the ghosts of the Imperialists continue to rule through the unchanged structures, to this day.
The Court that is Supreme is one of the main culprits for preventing the dream of the Mandir becoming a reality. Fudge, fudge and fudge again is not what the Court should be doing.it.. seems ineffective to the extent that it cannot take simple decisions.
Furthermore there should be no debate on the word secular in my opinion.. the use of that word should probably be banned. Its the most misused, abused, poorly and incorrectly understood, manipulated, and unnecessary word in India. Maybe after 2019.
