A man has been arrested in Haryana’s Rohtak after a disturbing CCTV video allegedly showed him brutally assaulting his four-year-old daughter on a public road. The footage, which has gone viral on social media, triggered widespread outrage and prompted swift police action.

The incident took place in Indira Colony, where the child had reportedly returned home after attending a birthday party. According to police, the accused, identified as Jitendra, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred.

CCTV footage sparks outrage

The CCTV footage purportedly shows the man throwing the child onto the road before repeatedly slapping and physically assaulting her. The child’s cries drew the attention of nearby residents, who rushed to intervene as the accused attempted to leave the spot.

The video quickly spread across social media platforms, leading to demands for strict action against the accused.

Police arrest accused after overnight search

Acting on the viral footage, Rohtak Police launched an overnight search operation and arrested the accused from a railway station, where he was allegedly trying to flee.

A case has been registered against him under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including attempt to murder, along with other relevant provisions. Police said further investigation is underway.

Child undergoing treatment

The four-year-old girl sustained injuries in the assault and is currently undergoing medical treatment. Police said her condition is stable and she is receiving the necessary care.

Authorities are also gathering witness statements and examining the CCTV footage as part of the investigation.

Accused expresses remorse

Following his arrest, the accused reportedly admitted that he had committed a grave mistake and expressed regret over his actions. However, police said the investigation will proceed in accordance with the law, and appropriate legal action will be taken based on the evidence collected.

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with many calling for stringent action against those responsible for violence against children.
