Sri Lanka has betrayed India

Sri Lanka has backstabbed India is the unofficial remark of diplomats dealing with the crucial issue of Yuan Wang 5 spy ship to be berthed at Hambotata. India has assisted the island nation to overcome the economic crisis with Rs.25000 crores of Indian rupees, but what did we get in return? It is Indian taxpayer’s money stated the same source.

Washing off his hands the new President’s Office said that the government of Ranil Wickremesinghe is not in a position to overturn the decision given the fact that Colombo requires financial support from China to overcome the current economic crisis, this correspondent has further learned.

Sri Lanka’s decision to allow spy ship Yuan Wang 5 at the Hambotata Port was reportedly taken at the level of Gotabaya Rajapaksa before he fled the country and China had exploited Lanka’s economic vulnerabilities to influence Colombo’s decision.

Beijing has allegedly exploited Colombo’s requirements to overcome the economic crisis and pushed the Gotabaya government to enable the docking of the spy ship.

The government of Ranil Wickremesinghe is not in a position to overturn the decision given the fact that Colombo requires financial support from China to overcome the current economic crisis, this correspondent has further learned.

Meanwhile, India has reached out to military officials near the Hambantota Port ahead of ‘Yuan Wang 5’ visit to the port from August 11 to 17.
