Devendra Fadnavis hands over 125 hrs recordings of plot to frame BJP leaders, demands CBI probe
In a major jolt to the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi government, Former Maharashtra CM and leader of opposition Devendra Fadnavis presented a sting operation of the special public prosecutor of the state government who has been planning a conspiracy against top notch BJP leaders in Maharashtra. He handed over a copy of the sting operation in a pen drive to the Assembly Speaker yesterday and demanded a CBI probe in the matter.
The former Maharashtra chief minister said that the 125 hour video in the pen drive showed a special public prosecutor conspiring to trap the opposition leaders in MCOCA and other such cases.
Devendra Fadnavis said that a conspiracy is uncovered through a number of 29 different pen drives in the 125-hour sting operation. Fadnavis said that some of the videos from this sting operation are extremely sensational, which mentions the name of NCP supermo Sharad Pawar very often.
While speaking in the Assembly, Fadnavis explained how BJP leader Girish Mahajan was tried to implicate him by making false allegations, how a false FIR was registered against a total of 28 people with him, how the entire draft was prepared by the public prosecutor.
Devndra Fadnavis revealed, “A case was registered in Pune in connection with Girish Mahajan. The Maratha Shikshan Prasarak Mandal is divided into two groups namely the Patil group and the Bhoite group. In that case, it is mentioned that Girish Mahajan’s personal assistant Rameshwar kidnapped a Patil group man on behalf of the Bhoite faction of the Maratha Shikshan Prasarak Mandal in 2018. Mahajan then allegedly made a phone call and threatened him. Such a fake case was made up. In that case, documents were prepared to say that Girish Mahajan should be booked under MCOCA.”
Naming the people involved, Devendra Fadnavis further said, “There was a conspiracy cooking up on how to politically slaughter the opponents. The main character in the story was special public prosecutor Pravin Chavan. He has served as a special public prosecutor in the cases of elected representatives like Sureshdada Jain, Ramesh Kadam, builder D S Kulkarni, Mahesh Motewar, Ravindra Barate. The public prosecutor is also the same in the case in which Girish Mahajan was booked. The office of the lawyer has now become the political slaughterhouse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.”
Reading out the details of the talks of the public prosecutor about various people and cases, Devendra Fadnavis said, “From planting a knife to putting blood on the neck, to how to show the business of drugs, how to throw a raid and how to somehow plan how the case fits into the MCOCA, it is a shameless story of how a public prosecutor makes a criminal conspiracy.”
Fadnavis said in the Assembly, “What is going on in the state if SPP (special public prosecutor) of state government plans a conspiracy against us? All these things have happened, I have videos. Who will investigate this? I request you (Speaker) that this must be investigated by CBI.”
“A copy will be given to Home minister Dilip Walse Patil too,” he further said. Earlier today, the Income Tax department conducted raids at offices and premises of close aides of Maharashtra Ministers Aaditya Thackeray and Anil Parab. The move was condemned by Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, who questioned why actions were being taken only against leaders from Maharashtra and West Bengal.
Meanwhile the BJP MLA’s demanded that Mumbai police commissioner Sanjay Pande be removed from post following sting expose by former CM Devendra Fadnavis in Assembly yesterday.
Responding to the reveleation by Fadnavis, the senior Supreme Court advocate & Rajya Sabha MP Mahesh Jethmalani called it the ‘most sordid of events’ and requested the matter be immediately transferred to the CBI as ‘no one can be trusted for a fair investigation’ in Maharashtra. “It is the only right thing to do. And thereafter, the CBI should immediately arrest the Special Public Prosecutor Mr Chavan who is the centre of the earthquake. Why one says he is the centre is because he is the only one in the entire conversation, having been taped for over 125 hrs. In the tape, he has revealed this most sordid episode in which the parties, the highest politicians, the most senior leaders of the state MVA government in Maharashtra have all been made a party to a criminal conspiracy to falsely implicate the Opposition leaders including by planting blood-stained knives on one of them.”
