Bharat Jodo or Family Jodo?

Congress leader Sonia Gandhi with her son and daughter held a secret meeting in Srinagar. The family may say they are on a personal visit even as her son Rahul Gandhi arrived here from his week-long Ladakh tour. Whether it is Bharat Jodo or Family Jodo? Sonia was welcomed by senior leaders of her party, including Congress Central Working Committee members and Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee president Vikar Rasool Wani. Immediately after her arrival, Sonia visited the Nigeen Lake here and enjoyed a boat ride, a senior Congress leader said.

Rahul, who was in the Union Territory of Ladakh for the past week, arrived in Srinagar on Friday after addressing a public rally in Kargil. BJP term three Gandhis as remote control of dot alliance I.N.D.I.A alliance.

Numbers set tongues wagging

The unprecedented size of the newly constituted Congress Working Committee has set tongues wagging. The extended CWC now has 80 plus members — with invitees’ categories more than double the size of regular members — and the chatter in the Congress is that except for the peons and the lamp posts at 24 Akbar Road, everyone has made it to the CWC. Apart from the talks about whether this has enhanced or dwarfed the prestige of CWC, betting is on whether the extended CWC meetings can be held at the AICC hall or may have to shift to a lawn.

No political role left

Mani Shankar Aiyar, who remains in the news for several controversial remarks, has come up with his autobiography titled ‘Memoirs of the Maverick’. In the preface to the book, Aiyar wrote that Sonia Gandhi also encouraged him to write a memoir in 2015, as he believed that she felt there was no political role for him in the party. And everyone had a good laugh!

What makes eyes beautiful

BJP MLA Vijay Kumar Gavit believes that the secret to having beautiful eyes like actress Aishwarya Rai was to eat fish every day. In his recent speech, Gavit claimed that if one eats fish every day then one would have beautiful eyes like Aishwarya and could woo anyone. Gavit’s claim was laughed at by his own party colleague and MLA Nitesh Rane who hails from Kankavli in Maharashtra’s Konkan where the staple diet is fish. Nitesh claimed if Gavit’s claim was valid, he should have had beautiful eyes.
