The Indian Air force personnel, Ranjeet, who was nabbed by the Delhi Police Crime Branch on Tuesday, was dismissed from service a day before after court-martial.

A native of Kerala, Ranjeet was posted as Leading Aircraft Man, which involved administrative work regarding maintenance of aircraft at the Bathinda Air Force station near the India-Pakistan border.

The IAF reportedly dismissed Ranjeet on the basis of inputs that he was passing sensitive information about deployment of forces on the border to his ISI handlers.

[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]S[/dropcap]ources said Ranjeet was victim of a ‘honey trap’ as he fell to the charms of a woman who he met through a social networking site. The woman lured him into passing sensitive information about aircraft positions and deployment of forces along the Indo-Pak border.

The arrest of Ranjeet is part of several similar instances of involvement of jawans from forces into spying activities for Pakistan. On November 30, a major Pakistan-sponsored spy ring active in different parts of India was busted with the arrested five persons — two in Jammu and three in Kolkata – in separate operations. The arrest came days after the Uttar Pradesh police nabbed a Pakistani national and ‘ISI agent’ from Meerut on Friday.

The existence of such a widespread spy-network came as shocker to the intelligence agencies. The documents received from the Pakistan agents showed that the neighboring country was trying to gain information about nature and the extent of the vigil on the forward position along the Line of Control and International Border to facilitate infiltration from across the border with the aim of executing terror strikes in different parts of the country.

The police also nabbed the ISI agent and carried out searches to nab their associates. A Crime bench team led by assistant commissioner of police KPS Malhotra conducted the raids and nabbed the two from Jammu railway station. The BSF constable and his ISI handlers are relatives.

The ISI agent was identified as Kafaitullah Khan alias Master Raja (44), a resident of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir. He was supplied the sensitive documents by his relative BSF head constable Abdul Rasheed, posted at the intelligence wing of Border Security Force in Rajouri itself.
