Hypocrisy and Left parties’ policies appear to be joined at the hip. India’s only Left-ruled state of Kerala passed an ordinance to cut 30 days salary of employees in five installments, on Wednesday. This a day after the Kerala High Court stayed Government’s move to the State Cabinet on the salary cut. Interestingly, the same party and their spokespersons will wax eloquent and object to private firms’ implementing salary cuts due to the COVID-19 crisis and the Central Government’s move to stall the newly declared Dearness Allowance.

On Tuesday the 28th of April, 2020, Kerala’s High Court had termed the State’s salary cut as prima facie wrong and stayed the Order. Kerala’s Government’s arguments (false) that they are empowered to cut salary when the Disaster Management Act is force were rejected[1].

Ignorance or Arrogance?

The hypocrisy and duplicity of the Communists got further exposed when the Kerala Government on the next day decided to pass an Ordinance to overcome the High Court Order banning salary cut[2]. This move to bring an Ordinance shows their arrogance or lack of legal knowledge when the case is pending before the High Court. The High Court has only stayed on the petition by the employees’ unions and the case is not decided fully. The Unions and Opposition parties Congress and BJP have come out against the arrogance of the Communist-controlled Kerala Government.

Focus on relief work

Recently the Vijayan Government was caught for fake public relation tricks by posting Chief Minister (CM) Pinarayi Vijayan’s name on a display board in Australia[3].  Instead of concentrating on relief and rehabilitation works, the Kerala Government was seen planting image boosting stories in foreign newspapers using pliable media persons. The Kerala CM is also facing controversy on allowing a US-based firm Sprinklr to collect the data of COVID-19 patients. This is also another duplicity when the Left parties oppose data collection by Central Government through Aadhar and National Population Register (NPR). The Opposition parties now accuse Chief Minister Vijayan’s daughter Veena’s firm’s link with US-based company Sprinklr[4].
