The overuse of public relations during the Corona Crisis has now landed Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in scams. The worst is the Sprinklr scam. Sprinklr is a US-based firm run by a Keralite who was engaged by the Left Front-run Kerala Government for data coordination of COVID-19 patients and state of pandemic control in the State. Look at the irony. The Left parties were opposing the privacy and data collection when it comes to the Government of India’s Aadhar project and the National Population Register (NPR). No such issues when the State is giving the data of patients to a US-based private firm Sprinklr.
Now the Kerala High Court has directed the Kerala government to keep the anonymity of the patient data, till a decision is taken in a series of Public Interest Litigations. The worst is that before signing the deal with the US-based company, the Kerala Government’s Information Technology (IT) Department ordered all hospitals to share patients’ data to Sprinklr. Now Pinarayi Vijayan who is also heading the IT department is observing maun-vrat on this topic.
As Kerala faces Assembly elections in 11 months, the Opposition parties Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have linked the Sprinklr Scam to Chief Minister’s daughter Veena Vijayan who is running an IT firm in Bangalore. Veena’s firm Exalogic Solutions Pvt Ltd is the beneficiary in this Sprinklr Scam, accuse Congress and BJP. The allegations getting strengthen day-by-day due to the silence of Vijayan.
Veena’s company is in the eye of storms for the past few years. During an Income Tax raid at the offices of rare earth materials exporter Sasidharan Kartha, it was found to have made a series of regular payments to the Chief Minister’s daughter’s firm. Pinarayi Vijayan is surrounded by many advisors and their attempts to create a larger-than-life image of Vijayan keep falling flat. PGurus recently reported the cheap PR Trick of placing Vijayan’s name in the display board of Australian mobile firm Telstra by sending paid SMS.
