[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]T[/dropcap]he Modi government landed in a big controversy on Wednesday when Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed that during the raids at his office on Tuesday the CBI seized documents that had “no relation” to the allegations being probed against his Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar.

“Docs seized from my office. No relation to allegations being probed. CBI kept reading DDCA file in my office. They wud hv seized it. But after my media briefing, they left it. Not clear if they took a copy,” Kejriwal said in a series of tweets on Wednesday.

Kejriwal and his party have accused Finance minister Arun Jaitely and top BJP leaders of misleading the parliament and country over the nature of the CBI raid. Both Jaitley and senior BJP leaders had claimed that the CBI did not raid Kejriwal’s office and the raids had nothing to do with the Rajendra Kumar’s stint as principal secretary under Kerjriwal.

“FM lied in the Parliament yesterday…. Why is Jaitley ji so scared of DDCA probe? What is his role in DDCA scam?,” Kejriwal tweeted.

[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]A[/dropcap]nother senior AAP leader Ashutosh tweeted: Seizure memo of CBI is in public. It establishes that CM office was raided/CM files were searched. Mr Jaitley lied and mislead parliament.

In a second tweet, Ashutosh said: Mr Jaitley why don’t u let CBI investigate DDCA scam? Why are u hiding behind technicalities?

The disclosure of the memo of seizure has placed the government in a spot and given the Opposition a handle to revive the charges that the Modi government has unleashed the CBI against its political rivals as part of the vendetta politics. The CBI found nothing during the raids other than 14 bottle of liquor for personal consumption that the IAS officers had kept in his bar, documents of Rs 28 lakh cash in his bank account, and details of properties which he has already disclosed.

[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]H[/dropcap]owever, it is baffling as to why the CBI seized registers from Kejriwal’s office which tracks the movement of file during the recent period. “This proves the lie being bandied about that the raids were carried against Rajendra Kumar and not against Kejriwal,” said Ashutosh to media persons.

Meanwhile, NCP chief Sharad Pawar has also criticised the Modi government for unleashing CBI against its political opponents. Pawar said in his experience as chief minister he never faced such a situation. “ If at all such raids were carried against subordinates, the CM was always kept in the loop,” he told TV channel.

Pawar also defended Kejriwal’s abusive comments against the PM, saying these were mere reactions. The CBI raid against Kejriwal’s Principal secretary and his own office has further united the opposition and there is little hope of the passage of GST bill now.
