Trump vows to protect allies, warns Iran of ‘extremely hard’ strikes if no deal is reached
US President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Iran, declaring that Washington will not allow its allies in the Middle East, including Israel, to “get hurt or fail” as the conflict enters a critical phase.
Addressing the nation on Wednesday during an update on “Operation Epic Fury,” Trump signalled both a willingness to negotiate and a readiness to escalate military action if talks collapse.
‘No deal, no mercy’ warning to Iran
In one of his strongest ultimatums yet, Trump warned that Iran’s critical infrastructure could be targeted if no agreement is reached.
“Thanks to the progress we’ve made, I can say tonight that we are on track to complete all of America’s military objections shortly. Very shortly. We’re going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks. We’re going to bring them back to the Stone Ages, where they belong,” Trump said.
He added a direct warning on Iran’s power grid:
“Yet, if during this period of time, no deal is made… if there is no deal, we are going to hit each, and every one of their electric generating plants very hard, and probably simultaneously.”
Trump also claimed that the US had deliberately avoided striking Iran’s oil infrastructure so far.
“We have not hit their oil, even though that’s the easiest target of all, because it would not give them even a small chance of survival or rebuilding. But we could hit it, and it would be gone, and there’s not a thing they could do about it. They have no anti aircraft equipment,” he said.
“We are unstoppable as a military force,” he added.
US claims battlefield gains
The conflict, which began on February 28 following US-Israeli strikes that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, has seen rapid escalation over the past month.
Trump claimed significant military success against Iran, stating:
“Tonight, Iran’s navy is gone, their air force is in ruins, their leaders, most of them… are now dead. Their command and control of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is being decimated as we speak.”
He added that Iran’s missile and drone capabilities had been “dramatically curtailed” and that weapons facilities were being “blown to pieces.”
War nearing end, but risks remain
Despite the aggressive tone, Trump suggested that US objectives were close to being achieved.
“Tonight I am pleased to say that these core strategic objectives are nearing completion,” he said, adding that the US would “finish the job very fast.”
He reiterated that regime change was not an official goal but acknowledged leadership shifts in Iran.
“We never said regime change, but regime change has occurred because of all of their original leader’s death,” he said.
At the same time, he warned that further escalation remains likely if negotiations fail, with intensified strikes expected over the next two to three weeks.
Focus on Hormuz and global oil supply
Trump also urged allies to take greater responsibility for securing the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global oil route currently under pressure amid the conflict.
Blaming Iran for rising oil prices, he cited attacks on commercial shipping and warned of continued disruptions to global energy markets.
He praised regional partners including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain for their support, while asserting that the United States remains resilient as the world’s leading oil and gas producer.

Nuclear threat cited as key reason
Explaining the rationale behind the military campaign, Trump said Iran was close to developing nuclear weapons.
“From the very first day I announced my campaign, I have vowed that I would never allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon,” he said, calling a nuclear-armed Iran an “intolerable threat.”
He also defended past decisions, including the killing of Qasem Soleimani and withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal under Barack Obama, saying he was correcting earlier mistakes.
“My first preference was always the path of diplomacy. Yet, the regime continued their relentless quest for nuclear weapons and rejected every attempt at an agreement,” Trump said.
