Govt announces the recipients of the Padma Awards 2022
On the eve of Republic Day, the Centre has bestowed to CDS General Bipin Rawat and former UP Chief Minister Kalyan Singh Padma Vibhushan posthumously. The other two Padma Vibhushan awardees are noted musician Prabha Atre and posthumously Gita Press Chairman Radheshyam Khemka. Among the 17 Padma Bhushan awardees, two political leaders from Congress and CPI(M) – Ghulam Nabi Azad and former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee figured in the prestigious award list. However, Buddhadeb refused to accept Padma Bhushan.
The government also awarded Padma Bhushan to the country’s two Covid vaccine makers Serum Institute’s founder Cyrus Poonawala and jointly honoured Bharat Biotech promoters Dr. Krishna Ella and wife Suchitra Ella. Indian origin CEO of Google Sundar Pichai and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also awarded Padma Bhushan. Former Home Secretary and CAG Rajiv Mehrishi, actor Victor Banerjee and Gujarati writer and preacher Swami Sachidanad also got Padma Bhushan.
Among the 107 Padama Shri awardees Olympic Gold Medalist Neeraj Chopra, late IAS officer, and Airports Authority Chairman Guruprasad Mohapatra, noted singer Sonu Nigam figured in the list. A detailed list of Padma Awards is published below:

Very deeply saddened to see that Gulabh Nabi Azad who was so obviously involved in the frauds and subversions in Jammu and Kashmir for so many years and part of the corrupt congress government/echo system is being awarded rather than being made by accountable for his actions. The Hindus of Kashmir who suffered under him must be so let down. It is alleged that he benefited from the Roshni Act which was specifically passed to loot the tax payer. The promise of wiping out corruption seems to have gone out of the window. Very sad. No hope for Bharat Mata.
