PM launches 213-km corridor linking Delhi and Dehradun
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor, a 213-km access-controlled expressway aimed at significantly improving connectivity between Delhi and Dehradun.
The corridor is expected to reduce travel time between the two cities from over six hours to around two-and-a-half hours.
Addressing a public gathering in Dehradun, the Prime Minister described the project as a key step in India’s expanding infrastructure network and said such corridors play a vital role in driving economic activity.

Focus on economic growth
Modi said the corridor would go beyond improving travel, enabling the development of logistics hubs, warehouses and industrial activity along the route.
He added that infrastructure such as highways, railways, air routes and waterways together form the foundation of the country’s growth and future development.
Public outreach and regional connect
The Prime Minister also referred to public participation during his visit, noting that a roadshow along the route delayed his arrival due to large crowds.
He extended greetings on festivals including Baisakhi, Bohag Bihu and Puthandu, and highlighted the upcoming Char Dham Yatra, which includes pilgrimages to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath.
Officials said the corridor is expected to boost regional connectivity and contribute to economic development in Uttarakhand and nearby areas.
