Political transition in Bihar
Choudhary’s swearing-in follows the resignation of Nitish Kumar, who stepped down after dissolving his cabinet. He has since moved to the Rajya Sabha.
Choudhary, who previously served as Deputy Chief Minister, was chosen as the NDA legislative party leader a day before the swearing-in.
BJP expands political footprint
With Bihar, the BJP now leads governments in multiple states across the country, further expanding its political presence.
Background of the new CM
Born in 1968, Choudhary comes from a political family. His father, Shakuni Choudhary, was a six-time MLA, while his mother, Parvati Devi, also represented the Tarapur constituency.
Entering politics in 1990, Choudhary has been associated with multiple parties over the years, including the Rashtriya Janata Dal and JDU, before joining the BJP in 2017.
