“Netanyahu will do whatever I want”

Trump praised the Israeli prime minister while discussing regional tension

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday claimed he enjoys a 99 per cent approval rating in Israel and joked that he could run for prime minister there after completing his term in the United States.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said, “I’m right now at 99% in Israel. I could run for prime minister!”

Citing what he described as massive popularity in the country, he added, “So maybe after I do this, I’ll go to Israel, run for prime minister. I had a poll this morning. I’m 99%.”

    Trump on Iran tensions

When asked about a potential strike on Iran, Trump said he was in “no hurry” to finalise an agreement with Tehran despite escalating tensions in the region.

“We’d have to open the strait, that would open immediately, so we’re gonna give this one shot. I’m in no hurry. Everyone is saying, ‘Oh, the midterms.’ Ideally I’d like to see few people killed, as opposed to a lot,” he said.

Trump was also questioned about his conversations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding military action.

Responding to the query, Trump said, “He’s a very good man, he’ll do whatever I want him to do. And he’s a great guy… Don’t forget he was a wartime prime minister.”

He further claimed that Netanyahu was not being “treated right” in Israel.

    Fresh warning to Iran

The remarks came a day after Trump issued another warning to Iran, suggesting that “another big hit” could be possible as negotiations over a long-term peace arrangement remain deadlocked.

    Iran reportedly discusses bounty proposal

Meanwhile, reports have claimed that Iran is considering a proposal involving a $58 million bounty targeting Trump and Netanyahu.

According to reports by IranWire and The Telegraph UK, Iranian parliamentarian Ebrahim Azizi announced that lawmakers were preparing legislation titled “Counter-Action by the Military and Security Forces of the Islamic Republic”.

The proposed bill would reportedly formalise payment of 50 million euros to any individual or entity responsible for assassinating the US and Israeli leaders.

Iranian lawmakers are expected to vote on the proposal linked to the February 28 strikes on Tehran that reportedly killed former supreme leader Ali Khamenei, according to the reports.
