Delhi HC gives CBI four weeks to file status report
Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed CBI to file a status report on its probe against former Finance Minister P Chidambaram’s family involvement in a hotel grabbing in collusion with Indian Overseas Bank officials by dubiously declaring the hotel under NPA. CBI in September 2020 informed the Court that they are going to register a regular case after the preliminary inquiry found the role of Chidambaram’s wife Nalini and her sister Padmini in grabbing a hotel named Comfort Inn in Tirupur in Tamil Nadu in connivance with certain IOB officials when Chidambaram was Finance Minister in 2007.
The agency also said that they have sought sanctions for prosecution against certain bank officials. In 2016, the High Court had ordered CBI to probe the incident when the hotel’s promoter Dr. Kathirvel approached the court citing how his business was dubiously declared as NPA and Sarfesi Act was misused to capture his hotel by Nalini’s sister Padmini and Nalini’s interventions by giving compensations and Chidambaram’s letters to him in Finance Minister’s letterhead.
Advocate Yatinder Chaudhary, representing Kathrivel told the Court that for more than two years CBI has not converted the preliminary inquiry into a regular case, after saying irregularities were found and sanction for prosecution was sought against bank officials. Advocate Yatinder Chaudhary pointed out that after informing the Court about the blatant corruption and illegalities and misuse of power by the former Finance Minister’s family, the CBI has not moved an inch and the Court must order registering a regular case.
Justice Yogesh Khanna ordered CBI to file the status report in four weeks. During the hearing, the IOB objected to seeking sanction for prosecution and Chidambaram’s family members argued that hotel promoter Kathirvel’s allegations were wrong.
As per the petition of Kathirvel, Nalini’s sister Padmini expressed her wish to buy the hotel Comfort Inn in the heart of Tirupur town and he objected. But in a few months, the bankers dubiously declared his business as NPA and attached the hotel conducted a fake auction to allot the hotel to Padmini. Kathrivel also produced cheques and audios of Nalini for comprise. After CBI started the probe, Nalini’s younger sister Padmini in 2017 and her son-in-law in 2018 were found dead in mysterious circumstances.

It is not that there aren’t enough people.. The responsible people have their hands in the jar, they are very good at hiding tracks and putting obstacles.
Labeling Mr Chidambaram a criminal just because the CBI says so just shows the stupidity of some people. Let the court declare that he is a criminal. CBI ‘s record of solving cases is so bad.
Country with highest population do not have enough people to investigate criminal cases !!
Chidambaram’s hunger / greed / insatiable appetite for hoarding illegal health is unparalleled in entire world i.e. unseen even in Kali Yuga times. Grandson of Rajagopalacharya is so corrupt ? His grandfather must be dying daily (wherever he is now), reading his grandson’s ingenuity in financial scams and money laundering.
He is not C Rajagopalachari’s grandson.
His grandfather was Sir Annamalai Chettiar
However any grandfather must be ashamed of such a grandson who is the epitome of financial scams aided and abetted by a wife whose father was Justice Kailasam of the Supreme Court.
First things first.
CBI needs to be used to pursue other matters by Modi and Shah.
There are enough cases pending against PC anyway.
