The Centre has called an all-party meeting on July 19, a day before the commencement of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, in an effort to build consensus and ensure the smooth functioning of both Houses. The meeting, chaired by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, comes amid expectations of a stormy session, with the Opposition preparing to corner the government on a host of political, economic and national security issues.

The Monsoon Session is scheduled to begin on July 20, with the government expected to table several key Bills while seeking cooperation from all political parties for productive proceedings.

Government reaches out before crucial session

The all-party meeting will begin at 11 am on July 19, following the established practice of consulting political parties before every Parliament session. The Centre is expected to outline its legislative agenda and seek support for the smooth conduct of business in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju is likely to interact with leaders across party lines to address concerns before the session gets underway.
