Kangna on Thalaivi: The best film of her career
Kangana Ranaut‘s Thalaivi is based on Jayalalithaa‘s inspiring life journey as she arrived as a young actress in the Tamil film industry. She reached superstar status and eventually became Thalaivi – a powerful figure in the world of politics. This Kangana-Arvind Swamy starrer had been in the news even during the making of the Thalaivi.
The movie was released on a streaming portal and since then the film has been in trend. It has given Kangana a sense of reassurance that despite her right-wing opinion Thalaivi got appreciation from people who follow and have a Leftist approach. Kangana Ranaut is over the moon with the response her latest movie ‘Thalaivii’ is getting, she credits her team for the success and says that her popularity has been soaring high now.
After much appreciation received for her acting performance in Thalaivi Kangana said, “I do my own thing and I am in my own place. Most actresses are very popular for starring with popular heroes. That’s how actresses have always been. But I have my own light.” She added: “I don’t borrow someone else’s light. So, you know, that is a good place to be in. Definitely, I am much more popular now than I have ever been. It is true that right now is the best time of my career. I won’t deny that.”
The film showcases the varied aspects of Jayalalithaa’s life and was also getting pitted against a lot of international content. She says, “We always made a film that was a quintessential underdog story but we never thought it would be pitted against ‘Squid Game’ and these very popular series which had a huge anticipation.”
She further added, “All these things have made us feel that eventually after streaming, people who watch high-end content and are used to international content essentially they also love the film. It is very reassuring.”
Kangana credits excellent writing, direction, and the entire team who acted so well in the film. She talked about her favourite performance in the film and said that Raja Arjun’s performance is her favourite performance in the film. She said, “He’s so good. He brought a lot of empathy and sensitivity to a negative character. Even Arvind Swamy sir brought a lot of emotional content and a gripping narrative to the film.”
She is all gaga about the love coming her way for the film. Kangana reacted, “This has been so healing in terms of all the scrutiny that I went through and I go through for my very right-wing opinions and nationalistic approach to things after that kind of appreciation even from people who have a Left or Communist approach or ideologies even they appreciated my work. And that’s how I feel that art brings everyone together” she concluded.
The four-time National Award Winner actress Kangana Ranaut has been receiving appreciation for her efforts for the film, including weight transformation. Her character in the film required two looks, one as a young dancer and the other as a senior politician. Kangana has done exceptionally well and one can imagine the massive transformation she went through.
