Congress MLC Bhai Jagtap calls ECI PM Modi’s ‘pet dog’, refuses to apologize
BJP leader and former MP Kirit Somaiya has filed a formal complaint with the Election Commission (EC) and Mumbai Police Commissioner, demanding action against Congress leader Ashok Jagtap also known as Bhai Jagtap for allegedly making derogatory remarks about the poll panel.
Somaiya condemned Jagtap’s comments, calling them an outright insult to the constitutional body. “Congress leader Bhai Jagtap referred to the Election Commission as a ‘pet dog.’ Such abuse and disrespect towards the EC are unacceptable. This kind of humiliation cannot be tolerated, and strict action should be taken against him,” Somaiya stated.
The controversy began after Jagtap made a controversial remark, comparing the Election Commission to a dog. “The Election Commission is like a dog, acting like a dog, sitting outside Narendra Modi ji’s bungalow,” Jagtap had said.
Jagtap further alleged that institutions meant to protect democracy were now being manipulated for political gain. “All the agencies that were created to strengthen our democracy have now become puppets, acting under the influence of Narendra Modi ji,” he added.
This controversy follows previous accusations from Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole, who had earlier accused the Election Commission of tampering with voter data during the recent Maharashtra Assembly elections.
