Unknown miscreants barged into temple premises and vandalized the idol in an attempt to steal it
Just after a month of vandalizing Goddess Durga idol and a chapel in Hyderabad, now in yet another shocking incident Nandi idol in an ancient Shiva temple was found vandalized in Kanaparthi Village of Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh. The incident came to the fore when the temple priests arrived on Monday morning.
However, no arrests have been made yet in the matter. An investigation has been launched, and the idol has been sent to forensics for further assessment.
According to the local police, the unknown miscreants barged into the temple premises and vandalized the idol in an attempt to steal it. A probe has been ordered into the matter and the idol has been sent to forensics for further investigation.
A police official said, “The idol was damaged by unknown people and it is suspected that they were thieves who had entered the temple to steal some properties. We have inspected the CCTV footage and a special team led by the Circle inspector (CI) has been formed to probe the case.”
This is not the first incident of vandalizing idols in Andhra Pradesh. Earlier, an idol was reportedly vandalized inside a temple in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district. An idol of Lord Subrahmanyeswara has been vandalized at the Ganesh Temple in the state’s Rajamahendravaram city which is located in the East Godavari district.
