Kudos to Modi for not falling into Kashmiri Muslim trap

The Narendra Modi government deserves kudos for not walking into the dangerous trap of Kashmiri Muslim parties, which have upped the ante and unleashed a no-holds-barred propaganda campaign calculated to forcing the Centre to hold Assembly elections in the J&K UT. The outfits which have been demanding elections and full state status for the UT on a daily basis include Farooq Abdullah’s National Conference (NC), Sonia Gandhi’s Congress, Mehbooba Mufti’s People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Ghulam Nabi Azad’s Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), Sajad Lone’s People’s Conference (PC), M Y Tarigami’s Communist Party of India Marxist (CPIM) and Altaf Bukhari’s J&K Apni Party (JKAP). Their demands are also being supported by their Jammu-based unpopular, small-time, and opportunistic politicians.

The most significant aspect of the whole campaign as unleashed by the Kashmiri parties is that they all in one voice accuse the Modi government of denying the people of J&K what they call their fundamental right to elect the government of their own choice and administering J&K against the people’s will. The other aspect is that these essentially separatist and fundamentally communal outfits have been frightening the people of Jammu province through their hate campaign that the action of the Modi government in August 2019 has been hurting the people of Jammu the most as “outsiders have been snatching their jobs, business, and land, and changing the region’s demography.”. No outsider would come to Kashmir to settle and work there and outsiders (read Indians from other parts of the country) would only come to Jammu to settle and hurt Jammu and jeopardize her interests has been the upshot of their whole ill-intentioned and political and communally-motivated argument.

Not one Kashmiri Muslim outfit ever talks about what the Kashmiri ruling elite and its supporters, Kashmiri Muslim bureaucrats and those close to them, Kashmiri business leaders, Kashmir-based contractors, and who not from Kashmir did what they did to and in Jammu to destroy the region socially, culturally, religiously, economically and politically, particularly after October 1996, when the separatist of separatists Farooq Abdullah was installed as J&K CM for the third time. Courtesy: Narasimha Rao-led Congress government. And the worst part of the whole situation as prevailed in Jammu between 1996 and 2018 was that Jammu-based politicians, civil society groups, and opinion-makers watched what the Kashmiri Muslim leaders and their friends, supporters, and agents as a mute spectator.

The question is: Why do Kashmiri parties insist on elections and full state status? The answer is not far to seek. They want elections and full state status to re-control the system and recapture the office of the Chief Minister, Assembly, Civil Secretariat, Home Department, Finance Department, Revenue Department, Law Department, General Administration Department, Forest Department, and office of Advocate General. These were the crucial offices that the Kashmiri parties misused and exploited to the hilt to hurt the nation in Kashmir; convert Kashmir 100 percent; colonize, loot, fleece, plunder, and drain Jammu and Ladakh and change their demographic profiles to a considerable extent.

In other words, the Kashmiri Muslim parties’ single-point agenda is to recapture the system and restart the process which the Modi Government sought to halt on August 5-6, 2019. They will ruthlessly avenge what they call the humiliation the Modi government caused to Kashmiri Muslim politicians and they have declared it umpteen times.

Can the nation afford the re-rise of the Kashmiri Muslim leadership in this highly strategic part of the country? The answer is a big NO. The nation’s requirement and the exigency of the time is the separation of Jammu province from Kashmir and the conversion of Kashmir into a Chandigarh-type UT. Separation of Jammu from Kashmir would strengthen the nation’s backbone and help the nation watch, protect and promote further the country’s paramount interests. And, conversion of Kashmir into a Chandigarh-type UT would help New Delhi control the system.

Will Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah rise to the occasion and do what is needed to be done at the earliest in the national interest? They must. They have no other option left.
