Fadnavis seeks central intervention in TCS Nashik controversy

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said the state government will seek the involvement of central agencies to investigate the alleged misconduct case at a BPO facility of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Nashik.

Describing the matter as serious, Fadnavis said, “We will not spare anyone involved. No one will be shielded. We have asked central agencies to probe the matter thoroughly,”
adding that the investigation would go “to the root of the case” and may involve a larger organised network.

The case stems from allegations that several women employees at the TCS BPO facility were subjected to sexual exploitation and coercion linked to religious practices. The claims, currently under investigation, have sparked political and public concern.

    Multiple FIRs, arrests made

According to police sources, at least nine FIRs have been registered so far. Seven individuals have been arrested, including Danish Sheikh, Tausif Attar, Raza Memon, Shahrukh Qureshi, Shafi Sheikh, Asif Aftab Ansari, and a woman associate.

The prime accused, Nida Khan, remains absconding and has approached a local court seeking anticipatory bail. Her family has claimed that she is currently in Mumbai and is expecting her first child.

Probe widens to possible international links

Investigators are also examining a potential international angle. Officials said the role of a Malaysia-based individual, identified as Imran Khan, is under scrutiny, particularly in connection with suspected funding channels.

Authorities are probing whether financial flows from abroad may have supported the alleged activities.

The Nashik Police has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to handle the case, underscoring its seriousness. A resort in the region is also being investigated after victims alleged they were taken there under coercion.

    TCS action and legal developments

TCS has initiated internal disciplinary measures and suspended the employees named in the allegations, stating that it is cooperating fully with law enforcement authorities.

Fadnavis acknowledged the company’s response, noting that “TCS has taken strong and timely action against those involved.”

The alleged incidents are said to have occurred between 2022 and 2026, with complainants claiming the pattern of misconduct continued over an extended period.

The matter has also reached the Supreme Court of India, where a petition has described the case as a “systematic conspiracy” and sought stringent action.

With multiple investigations underway, the case is expected to remain under close scrutiny as authorities attempt to establish the full extent of the alleged network and ensure accountability.
