The SC was of the view that the proceedings must be conducted with utmost confidentiality.
The verdict of September 30, 2010, by Allahabad High Court, was heard by the Supreme Court (SC) bench wherein the court had ordered three-way division of the disputed property of 2.77 acres. According to the order, the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid disputed land was to be divided between Nirmohi Akhara sect, The Sunni Central Wakf Board, Uttar Pradesh and Ram Lalla Virajman.
After taking note of the submissions by both parties, the bench constituted a three-member committee. The committee is being chaired by retired top court judge Justice Fakkir Mohamed Ibrahim Khalifulla, the panel consisted of the spiritual Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and senior Madras High Court advocate Sriram Panchu [1].
“The mediation meetings will be held in Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh and all the necessary facilities to the mediators will be provided by the state government. If needed the mediators will be at liberty to co-opt other members of the panel and can seek further legal assistance. The progress reports should be filed within four weeks of commencement and within 8 weeks the process should be completed”, the bench said in its order.
On Wednesday the bench had reserved its order on mediation issue, saying it was “looking at hearts, minds, and healing if possible” and a negotiated settlement was the “best way to restore peace” [2].

A Personal Hindu person’s view.
Finally- Dr Subramaniam Swamy has a seat on the negotiation table- where the Apex court – find themselves beyond their depth;
I believe- 2 views – simple property dispute vs one of basic foundation of Hindu religion as we Hindus know it.
Lets focus on the 2 views:
Proven- the Masjid is built on remains of Hindu temple;
it is written in Hindu scriptures -RAM’s place of birth- indelible fact not a myth;
Islam- worship- claim we can pray on any surface as long it is facing Mecca.
Hinduism- praying at birth place is a fundamental pillar of our prayer and religion.
How can compromise become to meet expectations for Muslims and Hindus?
The Apex court think that they can contribute to this- about 100 year old dispute- I believe that the court sees it as property dispute- they underestimate the power of Hindu religious sentiment and they believe it must be discounted for a solution.
Swamy- has to get in somewhere between the Muslims and Hindus?
How?
I think the court is giving Swamy a chance to present a solution where both sides do not get 100% of their expectations/outcomes- preserving the peace- the Apex court knows Swamy’s uncompromising views- yet he was invited to the table- not to make it even more complicated- but to contribute to the solution.
The Court may see a view in Swamy’s arguments that may be the foundation to a viable solution.
Lets wait and see how this plays out and how this dynamic works for those already there.
