Taco Bell to start business school to train employees for franchise ownership

The American-based fast-food restaurant Taco Bell is launching the first of its kind Taco Bell Business School via the University of Louisville. This business school of Taco Bell will help employees to learn the skills required to become future franchise owners.

Taco Bell has come up with the concept which is simple yet incredibly smart. The company will take existing Taco Bell employees working in higher-level restaurant positions and teach them the ropes when it comes to what it takes to own and operate a Taco Bell restaurant as a franchisee.

The program consists of a six-week “boot camp,” which will offer employees critical lessons in business. This includes financing, marketing, and human resource protocols, per entrepreneur.

Taco Bell CEO Mark King said, “It’s going to be seasoned general managers that are probably running fairly decent-sized restaurants that are qualified to be on this path.”

He further said that he’s excited about giving his employees access to further education. He added, “Whether you want to just be more equipped to do your job today, whether you want to learn more if you want to understand more about franchising and the relationship between franchisee and franchisor.”

Those wishing to participate will apply internally and will be granted scholarships via Taco Bell to complete the program, the hope being to elevate and educate capable employees to careers beyond the physical restaurant and diversify the pipeline and portfolio of franchisees.

Taco Bell has also rolled out a nationwide Taco subscription program. Anyone in the US can buy a Taco Lover’s pass for $10, which can be redeemed for one taco per day for 30 days.

Taco Bell opened its first outlet in India in 2010 at Bengaluru. It has stated that they plan to open 600 new Taco Bell outlets in India by 2029.
