Police investigating multiple complaints of harassment and coercion
A key accused in the alleged misconduct case at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Nashik unit, Nida Khan, has claimed that she is pregnant and has approached a court seeking anticipatory bail, according to sources.
Khan, who is currently absconding, is believed to be in Mumbai and is expecting her first child, her family has said. Her legal plea reportedly cites her medical condition as a key ground for relief.
Authorities are expected to verify these claims through official medical channels as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) continues efforts to trace and apprehend her.
Probe into multiple complaints
The case relates to alleged incidents at the TCS office in Nashik, where police are investigating nine complaints involving charges of sexual harassment and forced religious conversion.
So far, seven employees—including six men and a woman serving as HR head—have been arrested. The SIT was constituted after complaints were filed by eight women employees, who alleged mental and sexual harassment by senior colleagues, along with inaction by the human resources department. The incidents are reported to have occurred between February 2022 and March 2026.
According to police, one accused allegedly engaged in a physical relationship with a colleague under the false promise of marriage, while another is accused of inappropriate conduct and offensive remarks about an employee’s personal life.
In an official statement, police said,
“When the complainant repeatedly lodged verbal complaints regarding these incidents with the company’s head officer, he failed to take cognisance of her complaints regarding the molestation; instead, he effectively abetted their actions,”
Investigators also alleged that one male employee was forced to perform religious practices against his will, and his beliefs were insulted.
Those arrested have been identified as Danish Sheikh, Tausif Attar, Raza Memon, Shahrukh Qureshi, Shafi Sheikh, Asif Aftab Ansari, and HR head Ashwini Chainani. All have been suspended pending investigation.
TCS responds: ‘Zero tolerance’
Responding to the controversy, TCS reiterated its stance against workplace misconduct.
The company said,
“TCS has a long-standing zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and coercion of any form. We have always ensured the highest standards of safety and well-being of our employees at the workplace,”
It added,
“As soon as we were made aware of the matter in Nashik, we took swift action,”
The company confirmed that the employees under investigation have been suspended and that it is cooperating fully with law enforcement agencies.
Meanwhile, N Chandrasekaran termed the allegations serious and ordered a detailed probe.
He said,
“This incident is being treated with utmost seriousness. Action has already been initiated against the accused employees, and the company is extending its full cooperation to the ongoing investigations,”
The internal inquiry is being overseen by Arathi Subramanian to establish facts and fix accountability.
Further developments are expected as both the police investigation and internal probe progress.
