Joint operation leads to major breakthrough
Three Khalistani terrorists, accused of attacking a police station in Punjab’s Gurdaspur, were killed in an encounter conducted by the Punjab and Uttar Pradesh Police in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh. Officials confirmed the joint operation on Monday.
The terrorists, identified as members of the Khalistani Commandos Force, were part of a larger Pakistan-sponsored Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) terror module. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav termed the operation a significant breakthrough. “The encounter took place in the jurisdiction of PS Puranpur, Pilibhit. Injured individuals were immediately taken to CHC Puranpur for medical treatment. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the entire terror network. Two AK-47 rifles and two Glock pistols were recovered,” Yadav stated on X (formerly Twitter).
Who were the terrorists?
The deceased terrorists were identified as Gurvinder Singh, Virender Singh alias Ravi, and Jaspreet Singh alias Pratap Singh. All three were natives of Gurdaspur, Punjab.
The group was accused of throwing grenades and planting bombs during an attack on a police station in Gurdaspur. They had been on the run since the incident.
The encounter and recoveries
Acting on a tip-off, the Punjab Police alerted the Uttar Pradesh Police about the suspects’ presence in Puranpur, Pilibhit. Both forces collaborated to track the accused, launching the joint operation.
The encounter took place in the early hours of Monday. A fierce gunfight ensued, during which all three terrorists were killed. Law enforcement officials recovered two AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols, and ammunition at the scene.
“This encounter marks a major success in neutralizing a significant terror threat,” stated a police spokesperson. The operation not only eliminated the immediate danger but also opened doors for deeper investigations into the Khalistan-linked terror network.
Ongoing investigations
Authorities continue investigating the terror module to uncover further links and connections. The recovery of advanced weaponry and the nature of the operation underscore the scale and seriousness of the threat. Police are working to ensure that any remaining elements of the module are dismantled.
