An Indian student from Telangana has been reported missing in Chicago since May 2. According to the police, he was missing from the 4300 block of N Sheridan Road.

Rupesh Chandra Chintakindi, 25, was pursuing a masters from Concordia University, Wisconsin.

Rupesh’s father C H Sadanandam said he spoke to his son on WhatsApp on May 2 afternoon.

The Chicago police, in a statement, have urged people to provide information to the police if they locate Rupesh Chintakindi.

The Consulate General of India in Chicago said it was in touch with the police and Indian diaspora to locate and reestablish contact with Rupesh Chandra Chintakindi.

CGI Chicago said, “The Consulate is deeply concerned learning that Indian student Rupesh Chandra Chintakindi has been incommunicado since 2nd May. The consulate is in touch with the police and the Indian diaspora hoping to locate/ reestablish contact with Rupesh.”

Rupesh’s father said, “He replied he was doing some work. Later on, I could not contact him and he is offline,” he said as per TOI.

The family spoke to his roommates. They reportedly told him that he was going to meet someone from Texas who had come to meet him, but they did not know to whom Rupesh went to meet.

Sadanandam has reached out to Union Minister G Kishan Reddy for assistance in locating his son. Minister Reddy’s office has written to the Ministry of External Affairs, requesting CGI Chicago’s aid in tracing Rupesh.
