Why BJP denied ticket to General V K Singh? Not in Modi’s good books or an inferiority complex?

Is Modi only seeking spineless praisers and butter-ups instead of a man of exceptional abilities?

Is Modi only seeking spineless praisers and butter-ups instead of a man of exceptional abilities?

What is Modi’s reason behind avoiding such a great man?

It was a shock or surprise to many when BJP denied ticket to former Indian Army Chief General V K Singh, who won the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections with a huge margin of over five lakh votes. General V K Singh has been a Union Minister for the past 10 years and did his work in precision and was so fine in heading many relief and rescue operations from war-hit zones abroad. He was doing public service as an MP from Ghaziabad in a systematic manner and enjoying popularity. Then why BJP avoid him this time?

The answer is simple. General V K Singh was not in the good books of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Why so? The answer is – that Modi has an inferiority complex to General V K Singh who landed in active politics from 2012 and won elections always above five lakh votes margin. Modi was always ingenuine to General V K Singh and always kept him as a Junior Minister (Minister for State) for the past 10 years while giving Cabinet Rank to many juniors of V K Singh, who joined the BJP from Government Service.

General V K Singh challenged the Congress government and was pro-active in anti-corruption movements. Congress cut down his tenure as Indian Army Chief based on an unnecessary age controversy and he was hated by none other than Sonia Gandhi after her most preferred defence firm Rheinmetall was blacklisted. After leaving Service, Singh was very active in politics and RSS was very pro-active in supporting him.

Though he won Lok Sabha in 2014 with a 5.67 lakh votes margin, Narendra Modi downsized him by giving Junior Minister post and never promoted him to Cabinet Minister for the past 10 years. General V K Singh did so much good work as Union Minister in the responsibilities given to him. Apart from Departmental assignments, he did stellar service to the country by heading many rescue and relief operations in India and in war-hit areas abroad.

Many juniors of General V K Singh, who joined the BJP were posted as Cabinet Ministers by Modi. Be it Foreign Minister S JaiShankar, Petroleum and Urban Minister Hardeep Puri who are retired from the Indian Foreign Service, or former Home Secretary R K Singh, who described RSS as a terror training outfit. R K Singh was allowed to join the BJP within a few months after abusing RSS when he retired from the Indian Administrative Service in 2013. Ashwani Vaishnaw who airdropped into politics in 2019 was very junior in Government Service and straight away made a Cabinet Minister with many plum portfolios by Modi.

All these officers were very juniors in Service to General V K Singh who was Indian Army Chief from 2010 to 2012. Most of them came to Parliament through the Rajya Sabha route while V K Singh came to Lok Sabha twice with a thumping margin of more than five lakh votes. Why did Modi avoid such a man of great caliber? The answer is simple. General V K Singh is a bold man who speaks and is popular among the masses. Modi has an inferiority complex and he wanted only spineless people who just praise him and butter him. This is the problem of people who enjoy ultimate power and the country suffers in avoiding talented persons.

  1. Do not know if he was dropped or he opted out. Gen. Must be in his mid 70s, after a stellar career in the army and 10 years in the government a man of honor knows when to step down in dignity. The allocation of ministries is not as simple as writing an article. The eye for spotting a talent and inducting it in the correct slot is the skill. A good reporter does not necessarily make a good manager of a media house.

  2. a disappointing write down, if I may say so. there is no evidence of modi ever felt “inferior” to gen v.k. Singh – or nobody else, for that matter. the conjectures you make do not sound plausible at all. there could be some other reason. but if you can’t figure it out, there is no need to run your imagination so wild – it is ok to say “I dont know” when you demonstrably do not know, followed with a curiosity to know what the reality might be.
modi has many in his cabinet who are top performers. he enjoys and encourages top performance. btw, the secular media just loves to egg on the top performers to challenge modi for the pm position. eg, nitin gadakari. darn politics.

  3. Strong words & unconvincing. Too early to comment. Modi has shown respect & given complete dignity to armed forces, till date & have NO reasons to believe in this article to be correct/ true analysis
