US president claims Tehran apologised to regional neighbours, while Iranian leadership says the country will not surrender

US President Donald Trump on Saturday sharply criticised Iran, calling it the “loser of the Middle East” and warning that the country could face further military strikes amid the ongoing conflict involving Israel and the United States.

In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, the US president claimed Iran had apologised to neighbouring countries and promised not to launch further attacks against them. He attributed the development to what he described as sustained military pressure from the United States and Israel.

“Iran, which is being beat to hell, has apologised and surrendered to its Middle East neighbours,” Trump wrote, adding that Tehran had previously sought to “take over and rule the Middle East”.

Trump said Iran was no longer the “bully of the Middle East” and would remain the region’s “loser” for decades unless it surrendered or collapsed. He also warned that Iran “will be hit very hard” and suggested additional targets were under consideration.

A day earlier, Trump had demanded Iran’s “unconditional surrender” as the only acceptable outcome to end the conflict, while saying the United States and its allies would help rebuild Iran’s economy if new leadership emerged in the country.

Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tehran had assured neighbouring countries that it would not launch attacks against them unless strikes on Iran originated from those territories.

However, Pezeshkian rejected the idea of surrender.

“The enemies must take their wish for the surrender of the Iranian people to their graves,” he said.

The exchange of statements comes as tensions remain high across the Middle East amid continuing hostilities involving Iran, Israel and the United States.
