Tehran dismisses alleged Barron Trump assassination plot as tensions with Israel escalate
Iran has issued a fresh warning to Israel and the United States as tensions continue to simmer, with Iranian security chief Mohsen Rezaei saying Tehran would “send Netanyahu to hell” if the conflict escalates again.
Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said any renewed confrontation with Israel would enter a “new phase” and warned that Tehran was closely monitoring developments. He also accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of spreading false information about an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate US President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump.
Iran rejects Trump son assassination plot claim
Rezaei dismissed reports of an Iranian plan to assassinate Barron Trump as a lie, after Iranian state television earlier aired a video discussing an alleged plot against the 20-year-old. The US Secret Service confirmed that it was aware of the video and said it investigates material that could be perceived as a threat to people under its protection.
The video claimed that Barron Trump’s movements had been monitored and referred to his university, vehicles and Secret Service protection. However, there was no independent confirmation that an actual assassination plot existed.
Rezaei accused Netanyahu of using the allegation to frighten Trump and influence his decisions. His remarks came as Tehran and Washington remain locked in a broader confrontation involving military, economic and diplomatic pressure.
Tehran warns of tougher confrontation
Rezaei also warned that Iran would retaliate against US economic interests if Washington continued its economic blockade. He said Tehran was preparing for a more serious confrontation and claimed that any future conflict with Israel would be different from previous rounds of fighting.
The Iranian official further claimed that Netanyahu’s actions had brought the Israeli government closer to its end and said Israel would eventually be forced to withdraw from territories in Lebanon. The claims reflect the increasingly aggressive rhetoric coming from Tehran as tensions remain high across the region.
