A prelude to Karnataka Assembly polls
Sharp exchanges between Shah and Kharge
Union Home Minister Amit Shah‘s virulent attack on H D Kumaraswamy in Karnataka is a political masterstroke. Amit Shah took the wind out of Congress’s sails. Amit Shah’s new propaganda is that Kharge and his Party Congress are anti-Hindu and pro-Minority. As soon as Amit Shah spoke about the opening of the Ram Mandir, Kharge shot off his seat like a spring, wondering whether Amit Shah is the pujari of the Ram Temple. Amit Shah said yes, he is the custodian of the Ram Temple. It is the BJP that won the case in the Court of Law and not in public like Congress which was appeasing one section of the society.
BJP leaders praise Shah
BJP leaders in the national capital cannot stop talking about the political acumen Home Minister Amit Shah showed in his virulent attack on Janata Dal (Secular) and its leader H D Kumaraswamy during his visit to Karnataka last week. His remarks, to which Kumaraswamy reacted sharply, have taken away the comfort of a number of Vokkaliga BJP leaders from the old Mysore region who apparently used to make an understanding with the JD(S) to win their seats; but this restricted BJP’s growth in the region that sends 89 MLAs to the Assembly. Now, all those leaders will have to work harder to ensure their victory as JD(S) is unlikely to back them anymore. Shah’s attack also has taken away the sting of the Congress’ criticism that JD(S) is a B-team of the BJP in the state.
