18 trips by the MEA to showcase India’s robust diplomacy
External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar post-Covid had undertaken 18 trips to various nations, as per the directions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A detailed statement is likely to be made on December 8 in both Houses of Parliament. South Block in New Delhi which headquarters foreign office is busy finalizing the draft. Once the draft statement is readied, the Cabinet Committee on Security will endorse the official approach toward foreign policy.
Six nations moving closer to China
Dr. Jaishankar recently had an hour-long meeting with the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on six nations that are getting much closer to China, and that might have a major security threat impact on India. Pakistan has gotten closer to Myanmar. Teesta River is an issue where China decided to help Bangladesh to get a huge dam built. Pak-Myanmar Military Partnership
Indian Intelligence agencies alerted the NSA secretariat that Pakistan, egged by China, has stepped up its military-industrial partnership with Myanmar, one of India’s key neighbours to the East. Myanmar is keen to develop its domestic arms industry with Sino-Pak support even as it has developed a close defence partnership with Russia,
Jaishankar has time and again maintained that peace and tranquillity on the LAC is the only key to restoring bilateral relations, which took a severe blow after PLA transgressions in East Ladakh in May 2020.
China building all along the LAC: Army Chief
On November 12, Indian Army chief General Manoj Pande publicly made it clear that there was unabated infrastructure development by China all along the LAC and that there was no significant reduction of PLA troops in occupied Aksai Chin in Ladakh. Above said crucial issues are the priorities for South Block. Opposition in India is in disarray they may not be in a position to corner the Modi government on foreign policy. Without deliberations, the new approach of the Modi government towards China will go an easy way.
