Kerala HC issues notices in VPVV Techno fraud probe petition

Kerala High Court on Friday issued notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Union Home Ministry, and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs to reply to the petition seeking a CBI probe into the activities of the controversial company VPVV Techno Constructions Pvt Ltd, caught for printing fake documents of Indo-US defence exports. The petitioner A Harikrishnan accused that the VVPS Techno of committing fraud by claiming that they got an export order from the United States worth Rs.83,000 crore to deliver weapons for the US Army and Navy by producing fake documents and cheated many investors across India of more than Rs.700 crore.

The High Court’s single Bench of Justice G Giressh also ordered the Kerala Police to submit the status of the investigation. The next hearing is scheduled for August 18. The High Court has also issued notice to the directors of the fraud company VPVV Techno, caught for printing fake Indo-US arms deal contracts and cheating investors. The petitioners’ main demand was for the CBI to take over the investigation by the Kerala Police, as the scam involves many states and ramifications on an international level. The accused persons are based in Delhi and Nagpur, and a CBI probe is ideal, argued the petitioner.

Kerala Police had recently registered four FIRs and arrested the Vasant Vihar-headquartered company’s promoters Venkita Venkat, Aqeel Ahammed and Rajan Malik. Recently, many accused got bail from the Kerala High Court, and another absconding promoter, Thanush Pandya, known as Doctor Saab, is facing a new case for using fake identity documents to get bail from the High Court.

The Embassy of India in Washington has confirmed that Delhi-based company VPVV Techno Construction Pvt. Ltd has printed fake documents of the Indo-US weapon export deal. In a recent reply to the cheated investors from India, the Embassy said that there was no such deal between India and the US and added that the queries about the fake company VPVV Tencho were forwarded to the Ministry of External Affairs and the Union Home Ministry.

Kerala Police said that the fraud promoters created a fake Indo-Pacific trade deal, an Indo-US trade deal and “Q Clearance Bag”, which was signed by the US President at a printing press in Ramesh Park in East Delhi. The cheated investors alleged that the promoters, who got bail recently, conducted a press conference in Delhi on June 5 and claimed that the Delhi Police Commissioner had given them a clean chit.

The company’s other directors, Hitesh Kumar, Rahul Rajeev Nair, Rajan Pradeep Kumar Prabhakaran, and Vinod Rama Warrier Kumar, are also on the police radar for cheating many investors across India by printing fake US documents. The company promoters claimed that the US government has approved them as “principal developer’ of defence equipment to be manufactured in India and exported to the US. These directors have created a web of more than 15 benami companies, mostly registered in Nagpur, said the police, adding that these companies are operating in Jaypee Vasant Continental Hotel, Vasant Vihar in Delhi.
