Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his warm congratulations to Professor Muhammad Yunus, who was sworn in today as the head of Bangladesh’s caretaker government.

In his message, PM Modi expressed his best wishes for Yunus in his new role and voiced hope for a swift return to normalcy in Bangladesh.

PM Modi also emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety and protection of Hindus and other minority communities in the country.

The transition in Bangladesh comes on the heels of intense political turmoil that led to the resignation and fleeing of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from the country.

Amid the ongoing unrest in Bangladesh, the bodies of at least 29 people, including 20 Awami League leaders, were found across the country, local media reported on Wednesday. Across the country, Awami League leaders and minorities have become the main targets of the ongoing violence.

Several videos have surfaced in which Hindu temples were attacked and set on fire.

Spiritual leader and founder of the Isha Foundation, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev has called for urgent measures to safeguard Hindus facing violence in Bangladesh. Sadhguru highlighted the atrocities reported against Hindus in the violence-stricken region and stressed the responsibility of protecting these communities.

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev and Charu Chandra Das Brahmachari, the General Secretary of ISKCON Bangladesh strongly condemned the recent attacks targeting Hindu temples and business establishments in Bangladesh

Meanwhile, all Indian visa application centres (IVACs) in Bangladesh will remain closed until further notice following significant unrest in the neighboring country.

This development follows India’s evacuation of non-essential staff and their families from its High Commission and consulates in Bangladesh due to the volatile environment. Despite these evacuations, Indian diplomats remain in the country, and the missions are still operational, according to government sources.
