Six terrorists killed after attack on Pakistan Rangers facility in Karachi; four security personnel dead

At least six terrorists were killed and four Sindh Rangers personnel lost their lives after heavily armed militants launched an attack on a Pakistan Rangers facility in Karachi on Saturday, triggering a prolonged exchange of gunfire and multiple explosions.

According to Pakistani media reports, the attack began when an explosive-laden vehicle rammed into the provincial headquarters of the paramilitary Pakistan Rangers near Mosamiat Chowrangi in Karachi. The blast was followed by intense firing as security forces engaged the attackers.

Security personnel quickly cordoned off the area, while Rapid Response Force units, police commandos and other emergency teams were deployed to contain the situation. A second explosion was later reported near Meteorological Chowrangi on University Road, heightening security concerns across the city.

Pakistani authorities said security forces neutralised six terrorists during the operation and captured one suspect alive. Four Sindh Rangers personnel were killed while responding to the attack.

The extremist group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA), a splinter faction of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility for the assault. According to reports, the outfit said the attack was carried out by its suicide unit known as the Khulafa-e-Rashideen Ishtishhadi Brigade.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said he had sought a detailed report on the incident and directed police authorities to immediately assess the situation and take all necessary security measures.

“Police should immediately reach the scene, determine the nature of the incident, and take all necessary measures,” Shah said in a statement.
