Actor Govinda accidentally shot in leg, rushed to Mumbai hospital

In a shocking incident, Bollywood actor and ruling Shiv Sena member Govinda Ahuja sustained a bullet injury on Tuesday morning after his licensed pistol reportedly misfired while he was cleaning it at his residence in Juhu.

According to police officials, the incident occurred around 5:15 a.m. as the 60-year-old actor was preparing to leave home for work-related assignments. The misfire resulted in a bullet injuring his leg, prompting immediate medical attention. Govinda was rushed to CritiCare Hospital in Juhu, where his condition is currently reported to be stable.

Shiv Sena National Spokesperson Krishna Hegde commented on the unfortunate event, stating, “We have learned that he was cleaning the pistol when it misfired and injured him. We are very concerned for his health and hope that he recovers soon.” The Juhu Police Station is conducting preliminary inquiries into the incident, but the actor’s family has not yet made an official statement, which has stirred concern within political circles.

Govinda, a former Congress MP from Mumbai North, made headlines earlier this year when he joined the ruling Shiv Sena, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Although he clarified that he was not interested in electoral politics, he has been active as a star campaigner, supporting various party nominees during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Looking ahead, Govinda is expected to play a significant role as a charismatic speaker for the Shiv Sena in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections scheduled for November.
