On October 1, over 12 lakh voters in the Jammu district are ready to exercise their democratic rights as polling takes place in eleven Assembly Constituencies (ACs) during the third and final phase of the Assembly elections. The total voter count stands at 1,200,977, comprising 619,066 males, 581,887 females, and 24 voters identifying as third gender.
To ensure a smooth voting experience, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has established 1,494 polling stations across the district, with 609 in urban areas and 885 in rural regions. Special provisions have been made to promote maximum voter participation, including dedicated polling stations for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), women-managed Pink Polling Stations, youth-led stations, and Green Polling Stations.

Senior citizens, making up nearly 18% of the electorate, with 215,338 voters aged 60 and above, are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the election outcome. Remarkably, Jammu has 404 centenarians and 6 super-centenarians who have witnessed over 120 years of India’s history.
Authorities are actively conducting voter awareness programs across the district to encourage participation and emphasize the importance of exercising the franchise. All arrangements are in place for a smooth and peaceful polling process on October 1.
