Veteran lawyer Ram Jethmalani takes aim at Jaitley on black money

[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]V[/dropcap]eteran lawyer Ram Jethmalani wastes no time in attacking his arch rival Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. In his new article uploaded a few hours ago in his website, Jethmalani exposes the truth behind the recent much hyped Income Declaration Scheme (IDS). Only Rs. 65,250 crores ($9.8 billion) were collected from 64,275 people, which means on an average the black money collection was about Rs. One crore ($150,000) per person. The lawyer accuses Jaitley for fooling the nation by creating a hype by revealing on the value of money collected, that the government had taken serious steps to unearth black money at “domestic and foreign level.”

Venting his anger, Jethmalani calls Jaitley as “an active agent of the entire black money operations.”

“Really Mr Jaitley? After recovering a mere Rs 1 crore ($150,000) per person, are you again trying to fool the nation, just as your predecessor did, that you and your government have put in their best efforts in retrieving the country’s black money stashed away abroad. The real black money holders of our country must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Do you, Mr Jaitley recall the black money figure estimated by your own Party at US$ 1500 billion amounting to Rs 90 lakh crores, which they swore to the nation they would retrieve once in power? Where does your ‘recovered’ money of Rs 65,000 crores ($9.75 billion) touch that figure? Do you think the people of this country can be fooled by your great achievement of whitening Rs 65,000 crores? You have already become a figure of ridicule among the people who know the truth, and of the general fraud and deception once again being played on our people. Every petty realtor in this country, a breed multiplying alarmingly, as our country urbanizes, can shell out much more of unaccounted money than the Rs 1 crore per head at any given time. The Finance Minister has committed the greatest betrayal of the Indian people by abetting his predecessor, and following his own duplicitous fraud on the people of India, with yet another ‘jumla’,” wrote Jethmalani in his website.

Till recent past Jethmalani’s articles were hot news for Mainstream Media, which would publish every word he uttered. He alleges that these days, due to the proximity with the Finance Minister, media houses black out his articles and statements. Once, Jethmalani paid around Rs. 16 lakhs ($24,000) to Indian Express to publish his article as an advertisement! Indian Express, which in late 80s, published daily articles and questions of Jethmalani against Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, now implement blackout on his articles and statements, especially against Jaitley, alleges Jethmalani.

Venting his anger, Jethmalani calls Jaitley as “an active agent of the entire black money operations.”

I suggest that it is still not too late for Modi and the nation to get rid of you, the presiding fraud of the Finance Ministry.

“Our Hon’ble Finance Minister has been an active agent the entire black money operation that was unfolding in our country over the last decade. He was Leader of the Opposition, when the UPA Government was stubbornly refusing to avail of the German Government’s offer to share the names of the Indian black money account holders at the LGT Bank, Leichtenstein Bank that it had obtained,” wrote Jethmalani, repeating his questionnaire to Jaitley on his “doubtful games” in black money.

Jethmalani accused Jaitley for cheating Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Jethmalani signs off the post with the following missive – “I suggest that it is still not too late for Modi and the nation to get rid of you, the presiding fraud of the Finance Ministry.”

  1. Ram Jethmalani is absolutely correct. This lawyer Jaitely who knows zilch about finance still continues as FM. He appears to be on a retainer protecting his clients and cronies.

  2. I presume that because of his friendship with P Chidambaram,Jai Italy is not perusing cases against Karti,NDTV etc. Otherwise who is preventing him /ED to put Karti in prison in spite of his refusal to appear before ED thrice.Any other citizen would have been inside by now.We wish to know who is shielding them.No MSM is interested as it is part of the gang.
