World views of an average Indian – 1: Where do I stand on I.N.D.I.A. vs NDA tussle?

If I.N.D.I.A. rules for a few years, Bharat could become a Hindu minority. If NDA rules, it is likely to preserve the current religious ratios

Why I stand with the NDA and not I.N.D.I.A.

Why do I call myself an average Indian?

Because this is the simplest way to identify myself.

Each of us forms one’s own world views of various people, places, and things.

These form the basis of many of our important decisions, social, political, economic, cultural, personal, etc.

I propose to write articles on some of my world views under this series.

On all topics and sundry. Including, of course, politics.

Everyone may have one’s own world views, articulated or not.

The purpose of my articles is to spur the readers to reflect on their own world views too and articulate them if they are willing to.

Readers may feel free to comment, in agreement or otherwise.

My first topic: Where do I stand on the I.N.D.I.A. Vs NDA tussle?

I stand with the NDA.

Not that I agree with everything that NDA or BJP stands for.

I have disagreements with some of what the NDA says and does. This discussion is for another day.

But I have major disagreements with the I.N.D.I.A. Consortium (- that’s what it is).

I believe…

I.N.D.I.A. is pseudo-secular. NDA is moderately secular.

I.N.D.I.A. stands for dynasty. NDA stands for certain ideologies, whether one agrees with them or not.

Corruption is raison d’être of I.N.D.I.A. Corruption is less, incidental in NDA.

I.N.D.I.A. doesn’t care about nationalism; NDA is keen on nationalism.

I.N.D.I.A. thinks Bharat was born in 1947; NDA thinks Bharat has thousands of years of religious, cultural history.

I.N.D.I.A. wants to whitewash Bharat’s history; NDA wants to rewrite Bharat’s history.

I.N.D.I.A. is status quoist; NDA wants Bharat to be Vishwa Guru.

I.N.D.I.A. is left of centre; NDA is right of centre.

I.N.D.I.A. is excessively liberal. NDA is moderately liberal-cum-conservative.

I.N.D.I.A. cares less about national defence. NDA focuses heavily on national defence.

I.N.D.I.A. (in its previous avatars like Congress, UPA, etc) stifled Bharat’s growth through socialism. NDA has given a new lease of life to our growth story through humane capitalism.

I.N.D.I.A. wants to make Bharat more federal with strong states. NDA wants states and panchayats to have powers but with the Centre being strong.

If I.N.D.I.A. rules for a few years, Bharat could become a Hindu minority. If NDA rules, it is likely to preserve the current religious ratios.

Some people may not agree with some of my assertions above.

I’ll substantiate all my above assertions in my future World View articles in this series.
