Several adjournments in Rajya Sabha – Members of the AIADMK party repeatedly disrupted the proceedings in Rajya Sabha, demanding that Karti Chidambaram be put in jail for allegedly the illegal investments made by him in 14 countries. Karti Chidambaram denied all the allegations saying all the filings are up-to-date.
ED investigation – Congress retorted that BJP in the center and AIADMK in Tamil Nadu is free to take action as they see fit. In other words, Congress has left the Chidambarams to fend for themselves.
Aircel Maxis case – P Chidambaram, as the Finance Minister gave an illegal clearance on behalf of Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB), according to the AIADMK spokesperson and Dr. Swamy. He further expanded that this is a Supreme Court ordered SIT (Special Investigation Team), which is expected to report the progress on Friday. Chargesheet against the Marans has already been filed. A raid was conducted on Karti Chidambaram’s premises, which unearthed all this information about an un-employed person being able to hold assets in 14 different countries.
Finance Ministry leaks – Mohandas Nalapat, without mentioning names, alluded to conversations he had with Finance Ministry officials, who said that this finance minister used to convey inside information about the workings of the ministry through three officials to a clique of brokers in the stock market. Armed with advance information, these brokers converted it into a lot of cash. He urged the Government to access the telephone records to see who were the persons who got the information. He said that telephone records show that these set of 3 officials were in contact with Karti Chidambaram.
