Donald Trump says Benjamin Netanyahu has requested a White House meeting, with talks expected after the NATO summit
US President Donald Trump has said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has requested a meeting at the White House, adding that the two leaders could meet as early as next week after the NATO summit.
Speaking ahead of the proposed talks, Trump projected confidence about his relationship with the Israeli leader, saying, “We get along very good. Netanyahu knows who the boss is.”
According to reports, the meeting would be the first face-to-face interaction between Trump and Netanyahu since their meeting earlier this year, when regional security, Iran and the Middle East conflict were among the key issues discussed.
The proposed meeting follows a recent phone conversation between the two leaders, during which Netanyahu congratulated Trump on the 250th anniversary of US Independence Day. The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office later confirmed that both leaders had agreed to meet soon in the United States.
While the White House meeting is expected to focus on regional security, the timing remains uncertain. Trump is scheduled to attend the NATO summit before returning to Washington, and Israeli officials have indicated the meeting could be pushed back depending on scheduling.
The meeting comes amid reports of differences between the two leaders over aspects of Israel’s recent military strategy and broader regional diplomacy, even as both sides continue to describe the US-Israel partnership as strong.
